After suffering from an occupational episode of acute mercury poisoning, Dr. Trino found himself in a vulnerable and frightening situation. He faced potentially not being able to provide for his family and service his debts. The symptoms were severe enough as to jeopardize his career as a dentist. These symptoms included trembling hands, brain fog, difficulty focusing, short-term memory loss, and an overall sense of malaise and irritability. Fortunately, his wife Kelly, had the intuition to help him make the connection between the mercury-amalgams and the nervous-system issues he was experiencing.
Within a short-period of time, Dr. Nuño became certified to properly remove mercury-amalgams using the S.M.A.R.T. protocol. After learning about the toxicity of products in the dental industry, he immediately stopped applying fluoride varnish on his patients. He started on his journey to becoming the go-to biological dentist in Nebraska and surrounding states.
What started as an abysmally negative situation quickly turned into a fierce passion to evolve the way dentistry is viewed and performed.
At the forefront of my understanding was that I know nothing, and the answers would be discovered by studying nature. Nature knows best. Our body has the innate ability to remineralize its teeth and heal, and we must abide by the Laws of Nature. – Dr. Trino Nuño
Since that day in 2017, Dr. Nuño has been building a biological dental practice with like-minded colleagues. The practice, MiBöca Dentistry, endeavors to help patients love coming to the dentist. Together, our dentists and hygienists are helping our patients understand nutrition, airway & sleep disordered breathing, osteonecrosis of the jaw (cavitations), oral microbiome, lip and tongue ties, and the importance of choosing better materials that minimize immunoactivity.
